Our School

Personal Development

At Fir Vale, we ensure that our curriculum extends beyond the academic, technical or vocational. It provides our students with the opportunity to develop and discover their interests and talents. We are firm believers in ensuring all students have the prospect of participating in a range of activities and trips and play a proactive role in deciding their pathway. For further information regarding these opportunities, refer to the “Additional opportunities” section.

Our curriculum and wider work supports students in developing their character, including their resilience, confidence and independence. We ensure they know how to keep physically and mentally healthy. For further information regarding this area, refer to the “Curriculum” and “Health and Wellbeing” section.

At each stage of education, we prepare learners for future successes in their next steps. Key Stage 3 is central to providing a foundation of knowledge that supports students in making their options at Key Stage 4. Throughout Key Stage 3 and 4, students explore different employment sectors and opportunities which allow them to create their aspirations for post 16. For further information regarding this area, refer to the “Careers” section.

We prepare our learners for life in modern Britain by: equipping them to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society; developing their understanding of fundamental British values; developing their understanding and appreciation of diversity; celebrating what we have in common and promoting respect for the different protected characteristics as defined in law. For further information regarding this area, refer to the “Curriculum including Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)” section.
