Transition To Fir Vale School

The transition from Year 6 to Year 7 (Secondary School) is one of the most important challenge your child will face.

At Fir Vale School everything is done to ensure that every child is fully supported in making this journey smooth and successful.

Parents and their children will hear whether they have a place at Fir Vale School in March of the year that they will move to secondary school.

During this transition period every Y6 pupil will receive support and guidance in how to make a successful transition to Fir Vale School.

Staff at Fir Vale School are involved in a variety of activities e.g. visits (to primaries), gathering vital information about pupils and planning the July in-school Transition Event where pupils and their parents are invited to attend.

The start of Secondary School is a very important time for all pupils and their families.

We believe that transition starts early and we welcome children from across the locality from Year 4 upwards to our exciting taster sessions.

This year children in Year 4, 5 and 6 will have the opportunity to take part in our Fir Vale Murder Mystery, Badminton, Basketball, Samba workshops, Chair Drumming, Spectacular Science and Computer Programming sessions, to name a few.

This amazing programme of workshops will be delivered throughout the year and helps strengthen progress at primary school but also provides an excellent opportunity for children to experience what learning looks like at Fir Vale School.
