School Day

The following information outlines how the school day begins and ends, helping students and families understand what to expect each morning and afternoon. We strive to ensure a calm, safe, and well‑organised start and finish to the school day for each student.

• Gates will open to students at 8:30am.
• Key Stage 3 (Year 7, 8 and 9) students will enter via the side entrance.
• Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and 11) students will enter via the front gate.
• Between 8:30am and 8:45am students will be able to socialise with friends and meet staff in their designated zones.
• At 8:40am students will be met by their Tutors for a structured morning line-up that will be called at 8:45am
  The school day finishes at 3:15pm. Students can leave via the side entrance or the top entrance (Earl Marshal Road).

What our Academy will do: 

• We will send a text to all parents confirming any closure and arrangements. This will also be put on the Home Page of this Academy website, and on our Facebook page.
• We will contact via the Local Authority the local radio stations.

For Health and Safety reasons, you need to ensure that your child and the Academy know exactly what you allow them to do if school has to close early in case of extreme weather conditions (or power failure etc.)

In some circumstances, it may not always be possible for your child to contact you before leaving school.  Therefore, it is essential that your child is aware of all the arrangements you have made.  If we do have to close early, updated information will appear on the Home Page of this Academy website, on our Twitter (https://twitter.com/FirValeSchool) and our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/firvalesch).

What you need to do as a Parent/Carer: 

• Make sure our Academy has the correct mobile number for your child so you can receive a text message
• Check our Website
• Follow us on Facebook
• Listen for announcements on BBC Radio Sheffield and Hallam FM and the Sheffield City Council website: https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/schoolclosures

Please note that radio stations have a policy of only announcing closures and will NOT announce if the Academy is re-opening.
